Alone, I dream of the sun.
I cannot feel its warmth
when you are not near.
My heart flutters–
your banner torn by the wind.
My storm rages in the darkness.
Only you can light my way,
calming the gale,
silencing the howling doubt.
The darkness flees,
pursued by your Brilliance.
Blind, I call your Name.
My feet have lost their way.
Cruel rocks run red.
My lips taste
the Blood of your devotion.
Emptiness burns within me.
You alone fill my soul,
healing the wounds,
taking my stripes.
You carry my burden,
lifting my brow.
Why have I left your side,
dimming my sight?
You are a resolute Rock, immobile.
Faithfulness eludes me.
Lead me into the light.
Warm my soul so I will know
a child’s comfort again.
Crush my fear so that
I will never stray.
Fill me with undying love.

What a beautiful poem! Such artistry and feeling…I love it. I especially love the “washed in the blood” imagery created by the 4th and 5th stanzas together. Very cool…
I love you! E
Thanks, Weeb!
I was determined to write last night…though I had did not have poetry in mind…but then I read the English translation of the lyrics of “Con te partirò” by Lucio Quarantotto and poetry became the theme of the evening!
I love you!
Very beautiful writing! I agree with Elysa’s comment though I wouldn’t have been able to express it that way. You have captured the human spirit in it’s desire for a return to the one who bought us! I love you! MOM
Thank you, Mom!
Hi Scott,
Thanks for posting your poem to your blog for all to enjoy! What a special gift God has given you to see into the soul of man. And what a precious gift you have given HIM by penning such beautiful words! Thanks again! And give your whole family hugs from me!
